Project Overview
The 108-Inch Waterline Along City Easements from Willis Street to Imperial Valley Drive project reflects Reytec’s proven expertise in large-diameter water transmission and complex utility coordination. Designed to expand and reinforce the region’s water distribution capacity, this major infrastructure improvement enhances reliability and supports long-term growth within the service area.
Scope & Key Components
Reytec’s scope of work included:
- Installation of approximately 5,910 linear feet of 108-inch waterline using both open-cut and tunneling construction methods
- Installation of 22 linear feet of 66-inch waterline by open-cut means
- Removal and replacement of existing pavement, utilities, and drainage infrastructure
- Detailed tie-ins to multiple North East Transmission Line (NETL) projects, including two new 108-inch segments and one 66-inch waterline connection
- Site restoration and traffic control coordination across active urban corridors
Challenges & Execution Approach
Executing a large-diameter transmission line through dense, developed areas required meticulous sequencing and continuous coordination among stakeholders. Reytec’s team implemented rigorous safety protocols and proactive communication strategies to minimize disruption, maintain traffic flow, and protect existing utilities. Integration with ongoing NETL projects demanded precise alignment and timing to ensure seamless connectivity between systems.
Impact & Benefits
The completion of this project strengthens the overall regional water distribution network by increasing capacity and system reliability. It provides critical redundancy and improved pressure management for downstream users while supporting the continued development of Houston’s rapidly growing north corridor.
Demonstrating Reytec’s Expertise
With its complex interface between multiple large-scale utility networks, this project demonstrates Reytec’s capability to deliver precision-driven water infrastructure—safely, efficiently, and with lasting benefit to the surrounding community.
